Associazione Nazionale Alpini Sezione di Hamilton

The Alpini Group of Hamilton was founded in 1966 and is active in the community. The Alpini Association is made up of members who served in the Alpine Corp of the Italian army, who were recruited from the mountainous regions of the North and Central Italy. They wear a distinctive grey felt cap adorned with a black raven feather called the “Cappello Alpino”.

The purpose of the organization is to “preserve the tradition and the customs of the mountain people, to strengthen the bonds of comradeship, brotherhood and sport among those who served in the Alpine Corp, to promote and to support all the social, cultural activities favoring the physical and intellectual growth of the new generation of mountaineers.”

Some traditional dishes of the Alpini include: polenta and osei, mocetta, and carbonade.
